Backed by the Abu Dhabi Group, one of the largest financial groups in the Middle East and the single largest foreign investor group in Pakistan, Warid Telecommunications (Pakistan) launched its services in May 2005. Within 80 days of launch, Warid Pakistan claims to have attracted more than 1 million users. According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority,Warid Telecom currently has more then 10 million subscribers in Pakistan and is ranked as the fourth largest operator.

In June 2007, Pyramid Automation were responsible for providing emergency standby power for their main switching centre: 3 x Perkins 325Kva sets with Leroy Somer governor and AVRs were provided and the control panel was fitted with 3 x DSE5510s for Auto Start and synchronising and a DSE5560 for the mains monitoring and control.The system also provides soft transfer and no-break return. The system is now operational and Warid Telecom is highly satisfied with the outstanding performance. The pictures below show the new control panels being fitted.
